Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2025

These terms govern the relationship between Mainspring ("the studio", "we", "us") and clients ("you", "the owner") who engage our watch care services. By submitting an enquiry or bringing a timepiece to the studio, you agree to these terms. Please read them before proceeding.

1. Services Offered

Mainspring offers three defined watch care services: the Service Health Review, the Standard Mechanical Service, and the Complication Care Project. Full details of each service's scope are described on the studio's website and in any written quotation or confirmation provided to you. The studio reserves the right to decline any submission that falls outside its area of competence, and will communicate this promptly.

2. Enquiries and Booking

An enquiry through the website or by telephone does not constitute a service agreement. A service begins only when the watch has been received at the studio and a written scope and cost has been agreed by both parties. The studio will not proceed with any work on a timepiece without prior written or email confirmation from the owner.

3. Evaluation and Scope Agreement

All submissions begin with a bench evaluation. The findings of that evaluation, and the recommended course of action, will be communicated to the owner before work proceeds. Where the owner requests only the evaluation, no further work will be carried out. Where a full service is agreed, the scope and expected cost will be confirmed in writing before any movement is opened or components are ordered.

4. Pricing and Payment

Service prices are as stated at the time of enquiry and are denominated in Thai Baht (฿). Prices cover the defined scope of the service. Parts, where required, are priced separately and agreed in advance. The studio does not add costs without owner approval. Payment is due on collection unless otherwise arranged in writing.

5. Parts and Components

Where original parts can be retained, the studio will do so. Where replacement is necessary, the studio will discuss the options — including manufacturer-sourced and alternative components — and their respective costs before any parts are ordered or fitted. No component will be replaced without owner agreement.

6. Collection of the Watch

The owner is responsible for collecting the watch once the studio has notified them that work is complete. If the watch is not collected within 30 days of notification, the studio may apply a storage fee. If the watch remains uncollected for an extended period, the studio reserves the right to contact the owner in writing and, if necessary, to take reasonable steps to return the piece to the owner at their expense.

7. Owner's Responsibility

The owner is responsible for ensuring the watch submitted is their property or that they have the authority to authorise service work on it. The studio accepts no liability for work carried out on a watch that turns out to be subject to a dispute of ownership.

8. Postal Submissions

For owners submitting a watch by post, the studio accepts no responsibility for loss or damage in transit. Owners are strongly advised to use a fully insured postal or courier service and to retain proof of posting. The studio will advise on appropriate packaging on request.

9. Limitation of Liability

The studio carries out its work with care and to the standard of a skilled independent watchmaker. Where a fault arises directly from the studio's work within a reasonable period following the service, the studio will address it at no additional charge following examination. The studio's liability is limited to the value of the service carried out and does not extend to loss of use, consequential loss, or the intrinsic value of the timepiece beyond the agreed repair cost. The studio's liability does not extend to pre-existing damage or faults not covered by the agreed scope.

10. Website Use

The content on this website is provided for informational purposes. Prices and service details may be updated from time to time. The studio is not liable for errors or omissions on the website. External links, if any, are provided for convenience; the studio is not responsible for the content of external sites.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms or the services provided by the studio shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts.
