WHY MAINSPRING

A different approach to watch care.

Plain-language reporting

Every evaluation produces a clear written summary — photographs, findings, and options — so owners can make informed decisions without guesswork.

Work agreed before it starts

No surprises. For every service, we confirm the scope and cost before the movement is opened. Owners can accept, adjust, or decline without pressure.

Bench-level attention

Work is carried out by a single watchmaker from start to finish, not passed between hands. Each piece receives consistent focus throughout its time at the bench.

Written service records

Every piece of work is documented and provided to the owner. This record accompanies the watch and holds value alongside the timepiece itself.

Unhurried observation periods

After servicing, movements run on the timing machine and worn on the wrist before return. We prefer to take the time needed over returning a watch too soon.

Located centrally in Bangkok

The studio sits on Silom Road in Bang Rak, reachable by BTS or taxi. Drop-offs and collections by appointment, with postal arrangements available for regional owners.

Not sure what your watch needs?

A Service Health Review is a sensible starting point. It gives you a clear picture of the watch's condition before committing to anything further.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What owners usually ask before sending in a watch.

How long does a Standard Mechanical Service typically take? +
Most standard mechanical services take three to five weeks from the point of drop-off. Complication work and watches requiring parts from outside Thailand can take longer, and we will say so clearly once the piece has been examined.
Do you work on all watch brands? +
We work on most Swiss, German, and Japanese mechanical and automatic movements. If a watch falls outside our scope, we will say so at evaluation stage and suggest alternatives where we can. We do not service quartz movements or smartwatches.
What does the Service Health Review include, and does the fee apply to a subsequent service? +
The review covers accuracy measurement, a water resistance pressure test, case and bracelet condition notes, and a plain-language written summary with photographs. The ฿3,800 fee applies to the review itself. If you proceed to a full service, the review cost is noted in the service record but is not automatically deducted — that can be discussed at the time.
Can I send a watch by post if I am not in Bangkok? +
Yes. We accept postal submissions from owners across Thailand and neighbouring countries. Contact us first to discuss the watch and how to package it securely. We can advise on appropriate couriers and will handle return shipping with care.
How do I know what parts will be used? +
Before any parts are ordered, we discuss options with the owner. Where manufacturer parts are available, we use them. Where suitable alternatives exist, we explain the difference clearly. Nothing is replaced without consent.
What information do you need when I first get in touch? +
The brand, model, and approximate age of the watch helps us prepare for the evaluation. A brief description of any concerns — timekeeping, moisture entry, damage — is useful but not required. We will ask a few follow-up questions before confirming a drop-off appointment.
